I have some horde toons, and this is pretty much tthe onyl race I have with my alli toons..Well, toon XP As from all the questing I did do, compared to what I did in Horde faction. The Horde quests actually involved alot more stuff going on, more story line to it. I still remember doing the quest line around 20's, I cna't remember the name, but hte horde, if you used the Hero Call Board, you were sent to the forest with the night elves. True it may have been more about destruction, and taking over the area. But hey, it was something. As for Alliance, we jsut have to go around maybe protecting things, but alot of it is dealing with the other creatures, and not the Horde faction. Even though I remember one quest where we had to protect a sea shore side area from horde navy fleets. But I really didn't get much Alli vs Horde, or anything really important to a plot line, other than my worgen starting area. The undead have a great quest line when they start and and end their race specific quests (as in when you start out and branch out fo the start area). THe undead quest line got more into the military aspect of the Horde quite well. And their huge role in things, and what they're race is all about. I still remember the Goblin quest line, getting attacked by nagas, and having the horde coe to their rescue from that island, and amazingly, Galywix is looked at as the goblin race leader, even though he tries to destroy you at the beginning. With Worgen's it,s protect our homeland from the plague at first, then turn into a worgen, and then get our city destroyed by Sylvanas and her army, and then get rescued by the Night Elfs. As far as I see half the time between teh two, the Alliance seems to be nothing more than the kind of heroes you see in movies. Get beaten down, have one hell of a hard time, get rescued, and then becomesome great hero in the end. As for Horde, it is nothing but victory, destroy, and victory. The Horde are not getting pushed around as much as the Alliance are. For once I would love to see the Alliance actually go out, be rutheless towards the Horde, and own like it was nothing. Basically, Alliance being on the offence, quest wise, rather than defence. I personally see the Horde on the offence half the time. While the Alliance ar eon the defence. So hopefully your little remark there of us rising up, means that we will for once be on the offence against the Horde.
And as a side note, I'm not all, "For the Alliance", or "For the Horde" I play both, because I like werewolfs, and I like goblins, and undead people..And even cow people, becuase they make dam good tasting burgers lol
To be honest I originally thought addressing this "so called issue" was a good idea, cause there would finally be a way for Blizzard to show all the complaining people out there that they do not favour any side at all, which is the case. But apparently all it did was make people complain more!
I look at it this way, and now I don't think they should have indulged the complaining. They are a game company. They made a game along time ago and it was a hit. No one would have thought that Orcs and Humans played any type of favourite at all. Same with Warcraft 2 and 3 and expansions. The same thing is easily said about World Of Warcraft. Why do I think this? Well its easy, IT MAKES NO SENSE! People are attributing something to a game and they are saying the developers of that game would play favourites in the story there somewhere! I mean come on! Think about it! It just makes no sense at all!
Why would they alienate probably more then half their player base? They wouldn't. It's just people who really Love the alliance, see it as favouritism, because they perceive its going against them in some way, when in all honesty they are just trying to make the story of WoW interesting and ever changing!
I mean look at what is happening here!? People are endlessly complaining about the story in a game! A GAME! Blizzard have a product they are selling and as far as I know there are more alliance players per capita then Horde players. SO I ask again, would a company with such a popular product go out of their way to alienate more then half their population of players. The simple business answer is NO! From a make profit perspective that is stupid. However are they going to change and bow down to the endless complaining of those who constantly do so? No they are not, because they have artistic integrity!
You never see forums alight on other games where the developers are accused of playing favouritism because they have the audacity to have a story. Look at alot of the other games out there!? All the FPS games, or the other online games, Like Left for dead. Has there been a massive outcry because Valve have allowed the Zombies to take over most of the planet? They are a player race in the online version of the game? No there hasn't been because that's part of the story of the game. I know people will think its not the same thing, but in a way it is.
Its a story, it is ever changing and constantly evolving. Many I see here are saying stuff like the dev missed the point and to them I say he didn't YOU did! He is telling it like it is! Its a story. He was trying to show that both sides have suffered, and why did he bring up what happened to Outland? Because they look at it from a WHOLE story. They have been accused of favouritism all the way back, I have seen the posts, so he was addressing that! And apparently that means he's wrong for addressing the insults and jibes that have been thrown their way since Blizzcon!?
I again implore people to think about it! There is no favouritism, it just perceived in your mind because you are so into the game and want to win or something. But to be honest they are just providing good story, and I think we should all just try to have fun!! Remember fun? Stop taking it all so seriously!
Rant (although not really) ended! :)
