The game rating committee in Taiwan revealed Genshin Impact, the free-to-play action JRPG by miHoYo, has been rated on PS5, meaning it’s possible a release date for a native PS5 version will be announced soon.
"Genshin Impact" is a phenomenal game that achieved a lot of things in just a short span of time, and industry watchers anticipate that the game's native PS5 version would arrive soon with an announcement happening at the upcoming PlayStation State Of Play this month.
Genshin Impact is already playable on PS5 but through backwards compatibility. The game was released about a couple of months before the launch of the new consoles but was quickly updated to run its PS4 version on PS5.
Despite being the previous-generation version, Genshin Impact takes advantage of PS5 with improved graphics and faster loading times. The upcoming native PS5 release will however make full use of PlayStation 5 features and powers. There will presumably be a sizable improvement on the visual side of things. Expect improved support for even faster loading times and perhaps the support of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the new DualSense controller.
Genshin Impact and its impressive costs
As translated and transcribed by Twitter user AE Entropy, the president of development studio miHoYo, Cai Haoyu, has revealed how the game was developed Genshin Impact during a presentation at the Silicon Valley Shanghai Jiao Tong University Alumni Association. There I shared that the popular game cost 100 million dollars to produce, a really surprising figure if we consider that it is a mobile game.
However, the thing does not end there: every year will have to invest $ 200 million each year to ensure continued development and support of the game. They are really high numbers considering the type of game we are talking about, but they are not figures that miHoYo cannot cope with: during the month of October 2020, it raised 239 million dollars on mobiles alone.
Genshin Impact on PS5, When’s The Release Date?
miHoYo did not officially announce a native PS5 version of Genshin Impact yet. However, Genshin Impact was featured during the PlayStation 5 Showcase event on September 16, 2020. It’s possible it will make an appearance again on the upcoming State of Play on February 25, 2021.
MiHoYo also announced that "Genshin Impact" would release on Nintendo Switch. The announcement was made in January 2020, a few months ahead of the game's official release in September 2020. Unlike the PS5 version, which has been rated in Taiwan, nothing like that exists in the game's Switch port.
