WoW Classic has launched to immense success, with thousands of players jumping in and the game dominating Twitch since its launch, with over a million viewers tuning into the category on the first day. That success has also led to one of the game’s biggest issues, however, which has been the incredibly lengthy queue times to log in, with players sometimes waiting for hours at peak times to join the most popular servers.

To remedy this problem, some World of Warcraft Classic players in select realms are getting the chance to jump to a new home soon as Blizzard looks to depopulate some of the busier realms. Details about the free moves to other realms haven’t been finalized yet, but Blizzard announced its intention to let players move so they can get ready for that date when it comes. Players in the busier realms can probably expect to get a chance to move, but there are some stipulations that’ll keep players in a realm.

Blizzard has announced on the WoW Classic forum that some free character moves will be made soon. The post says "we are working to open our Free Character Move service for several WoW Classic fields in the coming days. When free character transfers are available from one of the most densely populated domains, players will see an option to initialize free character moves on the character selection screen. or the realm queue screen. A World of Warcraft community manager shared the news in a forum post, specifying that free character server moves are coming to select WoW Classic realms in the coming days. Once the service opens, you'll see the option to start a transfer on either the character select screen or the realm queue screen.
