Before the patch came out, RMP lost the top 3v3 comp to DK/hunter/paladin on SK-100 about Wow gold. Double BM + DK were just too much damage for a priest to handle, even if the priest somehow survived, he would be out of mana very quickly from viper sting. Rogue/mage could do nothing to stop BM hunter damage, and DK with freedom / anti-magic zone / icebound fortitude was very hard to peel as well for gold wow. It was very difficult to rush anyone down when your priest barely has the global to keep himself alive, forget about dispelling a BOP or divine shield, and you had so little time to kill someone before the priest is out of mana.
While survival hunter is stronger than double BM on the overall food chain (thanks to DK nerfs, hunter is almost tied for second place on SK-100), he does not counter RMP as hard as double BM did for World of Warcraft Gold. The 10 second anti-magic zone (vs 30 second) and removal of death and decay horror effect also made a huge difference as the RMP can set up their bursts much more reliably. While it is by no means an easy fight, I no longer mark it as impossible, especially if the mage is arcane to get cheap wow gold.
I had a chance to chat with Furi-kun (the first double warglaive rogue in the world) and Realz (who still plays a rogue as a backup to his hunter), and both agreed on the strength of 3.0.8 RMP. It is still the best overall comp for a rogue about wow gold. Double physical teams are VERY popular, but when fury warrior, feral druid, blood DK, retribution paladin and survival hunter are all capable of similar bursts as mutilate rogues, with twice the survivability, why use a rogue? I had the misfortune of fighting Tugget/Brewkz fury warrior/blood DK team, let us just say it is like fighting two double sinister revenge rogues with 16K armor (WAY more if they bring in shield defensive stance/frost presence), 27K health each and way better defensive cool downs. I have never seen my mage dying to mutilate rogue/arcane mage before he could block, but against that team, every death grip is literally.
